Advanced Concepts of Theoretical Physics

This course complements the Quantum Field Theory lectures and the Theoretical Exercises in preparing the ground for understanding the Standard Model of particle physics and for writing a Master’s thesis from a broad spectrum of possibilities, ranging from statistical and condensed matter physics all the way to particle and mathematical physics. The main topics are:
- Path integral (in quantum mechanics, statistical physics, field theory)
- Symmetries and group theory (discrete and Lie groups, representations)
- Solitons and instantons in gauge theory
